Role Overview
Role Overview
[X] by Kita is a dedicated third space for youth aged 18 to 35 to gather, create, rest, and belong. Situated within Stamford Arts Centre, it serves as a community living room to support connection, expression and everyday respite. Work alongside the [X] team to care for and activate the space, supporting both structured programmes and unprogrammed hours. You’ll help create a welcoming, thoughtfully managed space where young people feel ownership and belonging, while gaining hands-on experience in community-building and youth engagement.

Support programming and event logistics
Support the Manager with the planning and on-the-ground delivery of activities
Handle event logistics: registrations, reminder emails, and day-of support
Help ensure programming runs smoothly from a participant's point of view
Support programmes and activities across Kita’s broader ecosystem (Studios, Labs, Space etc.) where needed
Support communications and outreach
Manage [X]'s social media channels - creating visuals, writing posts, and responding to DMs, comments, and enquiries
Act as a warm and responsive first point of contact for the community online, in the same spirit as how the space runs offline
Steward the physical space
Help keep the space consistently safe, tidy, and welcoming, day to day
Support the Manager in maintaining operational routines that let the space run smoothly across varying levels of activity
Flag facilities or maintenance needs as they come up
Build community and hold the space
Be a warm, friendly, and grounded presence for youths who drop in - someone who helps them feel comfortable and at ease
Support the community rituals and norms that help youths feel at home in the space
Show up consistently so regulars recognise you and feel comfortable approaching you

Develop hands-on programme management skills, including how activities are planned, adapted for participants and evaluated
Gain experience in community-building and space stewardship through participatory practices, learning how to create environments that foster youth ownership and belonging
Build confidence in working with young people by supporting facilitation, and learning how to create a welcoming and inclusive environment

Commitment & Compensation
Minimum 3 months (6 months preferred)
Monthly stipend based on qualifications
The Community Intern will be required to be available on evenings and weekends weekly (time off in lieu provided)

Ideal Candidate
Ideal Candidate
Individuals passionate about creating meaningful third spaces for youths and engaging in direct youth work and community-building. Comfortable interacting with young people with good interpersonal instincts. An interest in youth culture and an attunement to what resonates with youths are valued. Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks at once.
